Going to Corfu from Saranda is very simple. There are ferries leaving everyday, usually a couple of times a day, except during the low season when there is only on per day. A one way ticket during the summer will cost you 23.80 euro and during the winter 19 euro, which can be purchased in Saranda at 2 offices on either side of the port entrance (Check the 2015 ferry timetable here with more detailed info and a Q&A / FAQ). The fast ferry takes roughly 30-45 minutes, while the slower car ferry takes about 1.5 hours (also be sure to remember Corfu is 1 hour ahead of Albania). The ferries will both drop you off at Corfu’s port, about 1.5 km (0.9 Miles) from Kerkyra City Center (the main town of Corfu). There is a bus that can take you into the town, but it is also an easy walk with signs directing you where to go.

[adsense]Many of Corfu’s hotels and hostels are on the opposite side of the island with transportation service available through the hotel/hostel or taking a bus or ferry is also an option. Be sure to contact your hotel/hostel to get detailed directions or confirm that you will be picked up. Hostels can be less reliable in their pick ups, especially the ones not associated with the Pink Palace, so be sure to have their phone numbers handy on the day of your arrival.

To get to Corfu Airport, you can take a taxi or take the much cheaper option of the local bus. Local blue busses no. 5 and no. 6 both run between the city center, port and airport within roughly 10 minutes and cost only a couple of euro.

[adsense float=right]When leaving Corfu to go to Saranda, make sure to give yourself enough time to buy a ferry ticket. The bus and taxis may drop you off at the main enterance of the port, however the ticket office for Ionian Cruises is about 300-400m back towards town on the right hand side of the road. Once entering the main gates of the port, walk towards the left and then right through a parking lot where you should see a reddish colored building at the end. This is where you will go through customs and get on your ferry to Albania.

The port in Saranda is right in the center of town, so most hotels/hostels are within walking distance, however there are plenty of taxis waiting outside if you should need one. Street signs in Saranda can be a bit confusing and the tourist office is on the other side of the bay, so make sure you have a map and directions to your destination.

  1. Hello. I am interested to travel by ferry from Corfu to Saranda. Departure in Corfu is around 13 July 2015, return to Saranda about 20 July 2015. We’re two adults with one car. Is the space in those dates? What are the hours of departure? Does it need to book? What’s the total price for one-way travel and what both directions?

Thanks for the reply and best regards.
